“Nothing happens until something moves.”
Albert Einstein

“My father says that almost the whole world is asleep. Everybody you know. Everybody you see. Everybody you talk to. He says that only a few people are awake, and they live in a state of constant, total amazement.”

~ Patricia Graynamore,  Joe vs. the Volcano

The world is a really big place.

Two years ago we decided it was time to change. We made a plan. Step 1. Buy a boat. Step 2. Sail around the world.

Two weeks ago, we accomplished Step 1. We took possession of the Waponi-Woo, a 2006 40’ Fountaine Pajot Lavezzi and transported it from Anacortes to Tacoma with our daughter, India and her friend, Keely.  The two-day trip started out stormy with the current against us and ended with water like glass. The Waponi-Woo is waiting for us in her new home.

Now we are finishing up all the small details in our house we never had time to address and preparing to leave. India is registered to start school in Tacoma on Monday. I have one more room to paint and a few things left to pack. All of our furniture is either sold or stored. It feels good to shed the layers of stuff accumulated throughout the years.

We still have quite a bit of in between tasks to accomplish before we reach Step 2, but we have crossed the line from dreamer to doer.
